Overview

With production in Poland, a globally renowned manufacturer of audio/visual equipment was looking to improve the labelling of its components by installing thermal label printers into its assembly line.

Working in a tight production area, the printers had to fit in easily with the company's existing set-up and be able to print barcode labels of up to 4 inches wide.

The quality of the print out was crucial. Labels must be easily readable by the human eye and by a barcode scanner. Print speed was also an issue. Labels had to be produced on demand, keeping pace with the rest of the production. Every part in the production line must also be reliable, not liable to break down, ensuring constant production. A robust and resilient printer was specified.

Solution: SATO speeds up Production

The manufacturer and their system supplier carried out extensive trials on a number of the leading thermal printers in the market. As a result the Polish manufacturer chose the SATO CL 412e for the task.

The CL 412e's medium sized footprint meant that it fitted easily into the confined workspace, while the wide choice of interfaces, made connectivity straightforward. With its 300dpi printhead, the CL 412e also offered the very best print quality. A clear print out, for both the human eye and the scanner, meant read rates of the CL 412e's barcodes were much higher than those of competitors.

The SATO CL 412e, with its state-of-the-art enhanced SH3 processor was also able to deliver labels at top speed. Data is processed almost instantaneously, resulting in a prompt label production.

Lastly, despite the toughness of the trials, the manufacturer found the SATO CL 412e printer very low maintenance and highly dependable. This reliability in combination with top speed data processing resulted in a swift and steady production.
