SATO’s New Print Engine is the Perfect Response to Ambitious Print & Apply Demands with Modest Budgets

Brussels, 28 June 2006 – SATO, the world’s leading manufacturer of label and barcode printers and a specialist in data collection systems (DCS) and radio frequency identification (RFID), presents their latest cost conscious OEM print module for Print & Apply Systems. The Lt408 allows budget constrained customers to experience the renowned quality, reliability, and performance of SATO print engines at a price they can afford.

SATO is the inventor of the world’s first OEM print module and has set standards in print engine engineering ever since. Following in the footsteps of SATO’s flagship OEM printers - the renowned S-Series - the Lt408 offers data stream compatibility with these powerful S-Types at a highly competitive price. As a result, the Lt408 opens up new opportunities for companies involved in production and logistics to switch from time-consuming desktop printing and manual “Slap & Ship” labeling to automated barcode labeling via Print & Apply.

SATO’s Lt408 print module incorporates all the important features of professional label printers, and thanks to its robust metal body casing, it endures even the harshest industrial environments. A generously dimensioned 30cm² LCD display with clear graphics and icons, in combination with a simple operating menu, allow for easy navigation and user-friendly programming.

Thanks to its symmetric structure, SATO’s new Lt408 can easily be integrated into any labeling system, adapting to both, left- or right-hand orientation of the production line, without any problem. A key benefit of the Lt408 is its reduced maintenance requirements, as it is the only print module with identical spare parts for left- and right-hand printing. In addition, its print head can be simply adjusted by hand and even print head replacements can be handled without the use of any tools.

SATO’s new OEM print module, available as direct thermal or thermal transfer version, prints barcode labels up to 10cm wide and 125cm long with a maximum print resolution of 203dpi and a maximum print speed of 150mm/sec. or 6ips. Its high-speed 32bit RISC processor guarantees unrivalled processing power, and its integrated 16MB memory can be upgraded with 4MB optional flash memory.
