The subsidiary of SATO International, a pioneer firm in the automatic identification and data capture industry, is aiming to position itself as the leading supplier of global solutions for its clients in Spain and Portugal

SATO Iberia S.A. invests more than 1,7 million euros in its new installations

Barcelona, 18 December 2006 - SATO Iberia S.A., a pioneer firm in the automatic identification and data capture industry (AIDC) and the leader in barcode printing, labeling, and EPC/RFID solutions, today inaugurated its new installations in the city of Sabadell, 12 kilometers from Barcelona, with the attendance of Mr. Josep Huguet I Biosca, minister of Catalonian Government, Mr. Kazumi Suzuki, Consul of Japan in Barcelona, high charges of SATO International and different local and autonomous officials.

SATO Iberia S.A. is the new company of SATO Group International recently created for Spain and Portugal. With the aim of improving the service offered to its clients, SATO, which a year ago bought the assets of the BCS division from Checkpoint Systems on a world level, opted to create a subsidiary company in Barcelona to foster closer relations with its clients in the Iberian market, thus reducing the delivery period for orders and collaborating closely with them for projects of greater amplitude.

SATO Iberia S.A. began its itinerary at the end of the month of January and during this time has progressively developed its activity throughout Spain and Portugal while building its organizational structure and looking around for a site for its new headquarters. In Sabadell, SATO has established its production plant for labels and consumables, engineering and development of solutions, warehouses, technical service and general management, counting on specialized commercial delegates and technicians all across the Iberian Peninsula and, via commercial agreements with local firms, on its nearby islands.

With 3,000 m2 already built, and with an investment of more than 6 million euros for the purchase of the latest generation equipment and machinery, SATO aims to position itself as the leading supplier of global solutions for its clients. So the firm has signed agreements with its first order technological partners to develop important projects that cover any type of needs at the level of industrial solutions, traceability, warehouse management or process management in production companies, libraries, commercial centers, personnel control at trade fairs and exhibitions and even in medical-health centers.

The inauguration of these new installations will make it possible to meet the increase in demand experienced in the sector. For this reason, SATO Iberia SA has, in these first months of activity, initiated a number of personnel expansions, so that the staff, originally with 21 employees, had to be increased by 100%. And it is not expected to stop here, since in regard to the results obtained SATO is confident that these numbers will be notably surpassed in the next fiscal year.
