6th – 7th November 2012
NEC, Birmingham, UK

SATO, the global leader for barcode printing, labelling and RFID solutions in the medical and healthcare industries will be showing its new intelligent printer system, the TH2, for the first time at GS1 Healthcare Village at EHI Live 2012. Visitors to the stand will be able to see a demonstration of the TH2 printer and meet SATO experts to learn how to improve accuracy of patient data collection and sample tracking for increased patient safety and efficiencies.

The TH2 printer accurately and quickly prints labels for phlebotomy blood tube and clinical samples at the patient's side. As a smart printer, TH2 label printer offers portable, standalone, barcode scanning and intelligent printing without the need for a PC, ink or ribbons.

The new SATO system allows the capture of data in patients' wristbands quickly and outputs high-quality printed sample identification labels carrying secure personal details. It is simple to use with fast data capture and prints easy-to-read sample data for improved traceability and secure scanning at further identification points.

Positive identification protects patient safety and helps avoid medical erros, while increasing a hospital's productivity and reducing their costs. For many years SATO has worked closely with hospitals from around the world to develop straightforward, yet fail-safe systems of patient identification, to ensure hospitals remain as safe and error-free as possible.

SATO printers can print industry-compliant barcodes and formats and are designed for use in environments that require high standards of hygiene and cleanliness. The TH2 printer enables medical staff to adhere to National Patient Safety Association guidelines. As a GS1 Accredited Solutions Partner, SATO's complete print and labelling systems also meet high standards for 2D barcode print quality.

As one of the largest label manufacturers in Europe, SATO is able to supply special materials for cryogenic, autoclavable, skin-safe, chemical resistant, temperature, gamma indicative and many other healthcare specific applications.

SATO also specialises in the supply of patient safety wristband solutions offering a comprehensive adult, paediatric and infant range for all purposes. Comfortable and secure with clear, sharp and durable print, the wristbands' print data complies with the formats recommended by the GS1 barcode standards organisation. A number of SATO wristbands are included in the NHS Supply Chain Catalogue and the SATO systems can also print from data received directly from patient administration systems (PAS).
