SATO showcases its solutions for the healthcare industry

Heidelberg, 14 September 2016 – SATO, a leading global provider of Auto-ID solutions that empower workforces and streamline operations, will showcase its latest technology and solutions for the healthcare industry at two events in the United Kingdom. From 13 to 15 September, SATO will exhibit at the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) Congress (stand #42) at the Belfast Waterfront. SATO will also attend the British Blood Transfusion Society (BBTS) Annual Conference (stand #19), from 21 to 23 September 2016 at the Harrogate International Centre.

One of the highlights will be SATO's IoT-ready PJM1 RFID Enabled Cabinet that delivers real-time inventory accuracy and accountability in a simple, interactive package. SATO's PJM Enabled Cabinets are designed to suit the tight time restraints faced by the healthcare industry, cutting management time from hours to minutes. They provide a new level of insight into assets making the management of medical devices more efficient, which results in a reduction of human error therefore improving patient safety.

"Patient safety is a growing concern for healthcare managers across Europe," comments Neil Batchelor, General Manager for SATO’s European sales. "SATO's technology for healthcare is based on absolute positive identification of patients, medications, specimens and samples, treatments, lab results and records to protect patient safety and help avoid medical errors, while increasing hospital's productivity and reducing their costs."

Another solution that SATO will showcase at these two events is the PJM tunnel reader, which can identify hundreds of items in boxes, trays or tubs or on conveyor belts quickly and reliably even if tightly stacked, overlapping and touching tags. Fully shielded, SATO PJM tunnel readers come in a variety of sizes and are ideal for tracking orthopaedic implant loan kits and performing stock reconciliation.

The healthcare professionals attending BOA and BBTS will also be able to explore the PJM 3D Reader. SATO Magellan PJM RFID Desktop Reader employs intelligent self-tuning technology that allows the RFID reader to automatically adjust its sensitivity to achieve the best performance regardless of the number, size or type of PJM RFID tags being used. The Magellan MDR-4330AT is a robust benchtop RFID reader that reads tagged items in any orientation as well as when in densely packed containers, and offers 43 x 30 cm of effective 3D reading surface.
