This first publication marks a new step in the progressive development of SATO Europe’s CSR approach.
The foundations of this approach were laid at Group level in 2018, with the formalisation of an initial sustainability policy and the establishment of dedicated governance. From 2019 onwards, the European progressively rolled out its first CSR initiatives, strengthened processes and further integrated environmental and social considerations into its activities.
In 2025, SATO Europe took another step forward by rolling out a European CSR policy and the associated action plan. The Sustainability Report stems directly from this work to formalise the approach. It reflects the intention to move from sometimes local initiatives towards a more consistent and measurable European approach, integrated into the company’s decision-making.
The approach is overseen by the European management committee and led by a Sustainability Steering Committee bringing together representatives from several countries and functions.
A voluntary publication to support transparency
This first edition was prepared and published on a voluntary basis, independently of any sustainability reporting obligation currently applicable to SATO Europe.
These results represent tangible steps forward, but SATO Europe also recognises that further progress is needed in European harmonisation, data quality, impact measurement and the integration of CSR into operational processes.
Laurent Lassus, Regional Operating Officer, SATO Europe, explained: «Publishing our first Sustainability Report represents a significant step in the development of SATO Europe. We have chosen to present our actions clearly, without treating sustainability as a simple compliance exercise or claiming that our approach is complete. This report shows where we stand, the results already achieved and the areas where we still need to make progress. It reflects our conviction that sustainability strengthens performance, trust and our ability to create long-term value. It must be embraced by all our teams and integrated into our day-to-day decisions.”
Birénam Agnala, European Sustainability Manager, SATO Europe added, “This first Sustainability Report is the direct result of the European CSR policy and action plan we have rolled out. Preparing it required substantial collective work to collect, review and consolidate information from our different entities and functions.
We deliberately chose to publish this document on a voluntary basis in order to strengthen our transparency, structure our data more effectively and progressively draw on certain principles of European sustainability reporting. This first edition is both
the culmination of work undertaken over several years and the starting point for a more measurable, more consistent and more ambitious approach across SATO Europe.”
